Salary Hike For Odisha employees by Dushera :7th Pay Commission

A very good news for the state government employees as a pay hike as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission is round the corner. Chief Minister of Odisha will enforce the pay panel's recommendations and the pay hike will be given by Dushera.

If the State government follows the Central government pattern for implementing the salary hike, the overall salary will increase by 23 per cent. As per the sources the government is likely to implement the pay hike and arrears from 2016.This hike will increase the financial burden of Rs 5,500 crore on the state treasury.

The announcement will come out before the Puja begins. The report submitted by the State Fitment Committee is under scrutiny for the government to take decision accordingly, Finance Minister Sashi Bhushan Behera said. He also hinted on the implementation of 7th Pay Commission as soon before the Durga Puja.

Odisha Appoints 581 Doctors..

The Odisha government on Monday handed over appointment letters to 581 doctors for posting at different health centers across the State.This will address the shortage of doctors and improve healthcare services.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik distributed the letters to the doctors for regular appointment during a function held at the Rabindra Mandap,Bhubaneswar. Addressing the audience Naveen told that the State government is keen to fill up vacant posts in other cadres in the health sector. Besides filling up 150 posts of dental surgeons, 169 Homeopathy doctors and 50 Ayurvedic doctors would be recruited soon.

Data shows that of the total 6,719 sanctioned doctor posts in the state, 1,687 are still lying vacant.It should be noted that already the placement-based incentive system has been introduced in the state to ensure health services in remote areas of the state.


IOC To Invest Rs 52,000 crore In Odisha

State-owned Indian Oil Corp (IOC) will invest about Rs 52,000 crore in expanding Paradip refinery and setting up petrochemical complex after the Odisha government agreed to restore part of tax incentives, a top source said.

IOC will also withdraw a legal challenge moved at the Odisha High Court against the state government's decision to withdraw signed commitment.

IOC wanted Rs 1,000 crore per annum of an interest-free loan but in the end settled for Rs 700 crore loan over a longer  period of 15-years," said the sources. IOC will deposit applicable VAT or GST on products sold, he said adding the repayment of the amount will start in the 16th year for each  According to sources IOC will go full stream with the expansion of Paradip refinery capacity by 5 million tons a year as well as set up a polypropylene plant and a mono-ethylene glycol production facility in next 4-5 years.installment.VAT collected and not paid in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017 -18 will be deposited by IOC immediately. Odisha government will provide an interest-free loan to IOC for 2016-17 and three-quarters of the current year by December 2017 or January 2018 and every quarter thereafter.The source said the state government has also agreed to waive interest/penalty for the VAT withheld by IOC.

A joint petition will be filed in the Orissa High Court, Cuttack informing about the agreement, he said.The investments from IOCL will bring more employment for the youth of Odisha and more Tax revenue for Odisha Govt.
